EATING & DRINKING
Eating out in Winterberg can be done in approximately fifty restaurants and snack bars that the village has to offer. There is something to find for every taste and budget. Like almost everywhere in Germany there are a number of ingredients and dishes that you may encounter on the menus. All kinds of pork dishes including the popular between the tourists, German wiener schnitzel, come in many variations. The popular sausages and curry sausages can be ordered in many places. The price level is best described as affordable. For lunch or dinner, it is not necessarily expensive in Winterberg, although it is worthwhile to compare different restaurants. On the slopes prices can be somewhat higher as there is a lack of competitive prices. For a quick bite you can eat in an imbiss, a kind of a German snack bar. Here you can enjoy frikandellen, sausages, fries and curry sausage.

Winterberg has a few pharmacies, drugstores and doctors. Winterberg even has its own hospital: St. Franziskus Hospital. Winterberg has no specific health risks that you should be extra cautious for and that aren’t known in the Netherlands. Travel insurance is recommended for certain medical expenses, because not everything is covered by your insurance. Tap water is of excellent quality and fit for human consumption.
